As a student, I am concerned about the impact this decision will have on creative thinking in the market. The factors, especially across industries, seem too diverse and complex to fit into a standardized system of metrics. In addition, I worry that this will open the door to unfair advantages for those companies that can dedicate extra resources to compliance and hurt other entities that cannot compete to the same degree. I also believe that this would undermine the ability of individuals to run their organizations without undue interference, and, even as I think that climate risks are a defining problem of our country, I worry that this is a wrong approach that will do more harm than good.
