Subject: Petition #4-637

July 19, 2012

Dear Commissioners:

I spent several years as a proofreader working on EDGAR filings that came to the Securities and Exchange Commission. I am tolerably familiar with the reporting process and with the obligations of publicly traded corporations.

I am appalled by the Citizens United ruling that allows publicly traded corporations to spend their investors' money to buy political influence without being answerable to their investors, the public at large, or the SEC. I am writing to urge the SEC to issue a rule requiring the public disclosure of all political spending by publicly traded corporations.

The alternative is to watch our political process being bought out from under us without being able to find out who exactly is doing the buying. Please make public disclosure a requirement.

Very truly yours,
Katherine Levin
