I am deeply concerned about the influence of corporate money on our electoral process.

The Supreme Court's ruling in Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission allowing publicly traded corporations to spend investors'
money in secret is appalling. This country was based upon doing what is best for the people and created to escape the rule of the rich and powerful that do not have the peoples' best interest in mind. This ruling is allowing rich corporations to influence elections and even in law making, by simply adding funding when senators vote in their favor.
This country is turning into exactly what the first Americans were trying to escape when they came here.

I am writing to urge the Securities and Exchange Commission to issue a rule requiring publicly traded corporations to publicly disclose all their political spending. Both shareholders and the public must be fully informed as to how much the corporation spends on politics and which candidates are being promoted or attacked. Americans have the right to know where their money is going and decide whether or not to support companies that do not support their best interest. Put the power back into the hands of the people, as was intended when the constitution was created, by mandating the immediate disclosure of political spending.

Thank you for considering my comment.

Sincerely,

Sidney Cain
