Dear Members of the Securities and Exchange Commission:
The shocking fact that obscenely rich & powerful corporations are in the process of BUYING our enture political system is due to the incomprehensibly stupid & destructive Supreme Court's Citizens United ruling, giving the corporate giants free rein to become our total masters!!!
If we are to have a livable country & not become a nation of serfs, we MUST END political spending by corporations. These entities are NOT people, & should not have constitutional "rights" equivalent to those of actual, real, living human cititzens!!
Though we VERY STRONGLY urge a COMPLETE BAN on corporate political spending, as a small interim measure, we do support the SEC issuing a rule as soon as possible that would require ALL publicly traded corporations to publicly disclose all their spending on political activities. Of course, we think ANY corporate entity, public or private, should at the very least be subject to FULL disclosure of any & all political money donations or other forms of financial support.
Both shareholders and the public deserve to know how much a given corporation spends on politics (directly and through intermediaries), and which candidates are being promoted or attacked.
