Dear SEC Members:
I am writing to ask that you act to bring an end to the secret political spending that corporations are allowed to do.
I urge the SEC to issue a rule in requiring publicly traded corporations to publicly disclose all of their spending on political activities.
As a shareholder of such corporations and as an individual citizen, I should be able to know how much a given corporation spends on politics, directly and through intermediaries. Such disclosure is essential to conducting fair and honest elections, and to making free market decisions about investment and other public matters involving corporations.
Thank you for considering my comment.
Sincerely,
Carol Smith
