Dear members of the Securities and Exchange Commission:
In a democratic republic, it is critical that government representatives actually represent the interest and will of their respective constituents as a whole, and not cater to the special interests of campaign donors. Transparency of information with respect to campaign donations is an important step in preventing conflicts of interest, both to help ensure the aforementioned ideal be manifested in government representation, and to ensure that corporate donations represent the will of their shareholders.
To these ends, I urge the SEC to issue a rule requiring publicly traded corporations to publicly disclose all of their political spending.
Both shareholders and the public must be fully informed with respect to political contributions of all public corporations. Disclosures should be posted promptly on the SEC's web site.
Thank you for your consideration.
