I think that short selling helped get us where we are today .I think the SEC should put a ban on short selling, and put more limits on hedge funds. I lost almost 50% of my investment money and I invested most in the sp 500. If you can't trust investing in your own country I guess it is time to sit it out in the stock market? If the SEC does not start doing it's job and keep the negative out of the market. I will invest in another country. Thanks U.S. tax payer.
