Amortization expense for intangible assets was approximately $1.4 million and $0.4 million for the three months ended September 30, 2016 and 2015 and $4.4 million and $0.9 million for the nine months ended September 30, 2016 and 2015. Estimated amortization expense for intangible assets in each of the next five years and thereafter is as follows as of September 30, 2016: $1.4 million in the remainder of 2016, $4.1 million in 2017, $3.0 million in 2018, $1.8 million in 2019 and $3.3 million thereafter.
