Item 7.01 Regulation FD Disclosure.

On January 28, 2009 Standard Microsystems Corporation (the "Company") issued a press release announcing that Christine King, President & Chief Executive Officer, will present at the Thomas Weisel Annual Technology & Telecom Conference on Monday, February 9, 2009 at 9:10 AM PT. The conference is taking place at The Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco. The Registrant will provide an update on current and future business trends at the conference.
