Item 5.02 Departure of Directors or Certain Officers; Election of Directors; Appointment of Certain Officers; Compensatory Arrangements of Certain Officers.

On August 28, 2023, Essex Property Trust, Inc. (the “Company”) appointed Rylan Burns, Senior Vice President of Investment Strategy, to lead all of the Company’s investment activities effective September 1, 2023, and Adam Berry will step down as the Company’s Executive Vice President and Chief Investment Officer. 

Mr. Burns joined the Company in January 2019.  Prior to this appointment, Mr. Burns led the Company’s $4 billion Co-Investment platform and was responsible for the Company’s portfolio allocation strategy.  Prior to joining the Company, Mr. Burns was a portfolio manager at Millennium Investments.  Mr. Burns began his real estate investment career at Fidelity Investments in 2009.  Mr. Burns holds a B.A. from Amherst College and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.
