At December 31, 2023, DESC had the following long-term commitments that are noncancelable or cancelable only under certain conditions, and that a third party that will provide the contracted goods or services has used to secure financing.

(2)Commitments represent estimated amounts payable for energy under power purchase contracts with qualifying facilities which expire at various dates through 2040. Energy payments are generally based on fixed dollar amounts per month and totaled $70 million in 2023, $75 million in 2022 and $73 million in 2021.
