Item 8.01. Other Events.

 

On July 1, 2005, Health Net, Inc. issued a press release announcing that a jury in Baton Rouge, Louisiana state court has returned a verdict in a lawsuit against the company and awarded approximately $117 million in damages — $52.4 million in compensatory damages and $65 million in punitive damages. A copy of the press release is filed as Exhibit 99 to this Current Report on Form 8-K and incorporated herein by reference.
