Item 8.01    Other Events.
On April 26, 2018, James K. Lowder resigned as a member of the Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee and the Compensation Committee of the Board of Directors of Mid-America Apartment Communities, Inc. (the “Company”). There were no disagreements between the Company and Mr. Lowder on any matter relating to the Company’s operations, policies or practices. Mr. Lowder continues to serve as a director of the Company and will stand for reelection as a director at the upcoming 2018 annual meeting of shareholders.
