Income Taxes	Income Taxes The provision for income taxes as a percentage of earnings before income taxes for the first quarter of 2014 was 37.4% compared to 35.1% in the first quarter of 2013. The increase for the first three months of 2014 was due primarily to the recognition in the first quarter of 2013 of 2012 research and development credits identified in the first quarter of 2013. Without such recognition, the tax rates for the first quarter of 2014 and 2013 would have been similar. Generally, the effective tax rate is higher than the Federal statutory rate due to state income taxes, mitigated somewhat by manufacturing credits.
