Santiago, Chile. June 22, 2018.- Sociedad Química y Minera de Chile S.A. (SQM) (NYSE: SQM; Santiago Stock Exchange: SQM-B, SQM-A) informs about the following communication from the Mr. Alberto Salas, Chairman of the Board:

“Today, I had meeting with Mr. Julio Ponce to analyze the Board’s decision to hire Mr. Ponce as an advisor to the Company.

In this meeting, it was agreed that as CORFO ratified in its press release dated June 6, 2018, the hiring of Mr. Ponce does not contradict the agreement reached with Pampa Calichera in any way, since the condition of "advisors" was excluded from the restrictions contained in the agreement.

As we have stated earlier, the decision taken by the Board to hire Mr. Ponce as an advisor was based solely on the knowledge and expertise of the technology and production processes that he would have provided to the company.

Given that his incorporation as an advisor has caused public differences of opinion, we have agreed that he will not be hired as an advisor to SQM.

In my capacity as Chairman of the Board, I appreciate the disposition that he had in order to put an end to the aforementioned discrepancies of opinion, all in the benefit of SQM and all of its shareholders.”
