Mine Safety – Reporting of Shutdowns and Patterns of Violations.
|
|
On January 9, 2020, Specialty Minerals Inc., a subsidiary of Minerals Technologies Inc., received an imminent danger order issued by the Mine
Safety and Health Administration under section 107(a) of the Federal Mine Safety and Health Act of 1977 at its Adams Mine in Adams, Massachusetts. The order alleges that the driver of a customer’s over-the-road truck accessed the top of a
trailer, parked at a bulk loadout, without using the appropriate fall protection. The driver was removed from the hazard and provided with re-training, and a sign was provided at the loadout requiring the use of fall protection. No injuries
occurred in connection with the cited incident.
