Basis of Accounting [Text Block]	1. Basis of Presentation The accompanying unaudited Condensed Consolidated Financial Statements of Littelfuse, Inc. and its subsidiaries (the “company”) have been prepared in accordance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for interim financial information. Accordingly, certain information and disclosures normally included in the statement of financial information, results of operations and cash flows prepared in conformity with U.S. GAAP have been condensed or omitted as permitted by such rules and regulations. In the opinion of management, all adjustments considered necessary for a fair presentation have been included. Operating results for the period ended September 29, 2012 are not necessarily indicative of the results that may be expected for the year ending December 29, 2012. For further information, refer to the company's consolidated financial statements and the notes thereto incorporated by reference in the company's Annual Report on Form 10-K for the year ended December 31, 2011. The company evaluated subsequent events through the date of its financial statements when filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission (“SEC”).
