CCU ANNOUNCES FIRST QUARTER 2004 VOLUMES

(Santiago, Chile, April 8, 2004) -- CCU (NYSE: CU) reported today preliminary first quarter 2004 consolidated volumes.

The preliminary volume breakout by segment in hectoliters is as follows:
