Item 8.01 Other Events.

On June 19, 2014 Union Bankshares Corporation (the “Company”) issued a press release announcing that it has been named to the NASDAQ Financial-100 Index^SM and its addition will be effective prior to the market open on Monday, June 23, 2014. The NASDAQ Financial-100 Index includes 100 of the largest domestic and international financial securities listed on The NASDAQ Stock Market^® based on market capitalization.

A copy of the Company’s press release is attached to this Form 8-K as Exhibit 99.1, and is incorporated herein by reference.

Richmond, Va., June 19, 2014 – Union Bankshares Corporation today announced that it has been named to the NASDAQ Financial-100 Index^SM and its addition will be effective prior to the market open on Monday, June 23, 2014.
