6. Leases

Misonix has entered into several noncancellable operating leases for the rental of certain manufacturing and office space, equipment and automobiles expiring in various years through 2018. The principal building lease provides for a monthly rental of approximately $23,000. The Company also leases certain office equipment and automobiles under operating leases expiring through fiscal 2018.

The following is a schedule of future minimum lease payments, by year and in the aggregate, under operating leases with initial or remaining terms of one year or more at June 30, 2013:

Certain of the leases provide for escalation clauses, renewal options and the payment of real estate taxes and other occupancy costs. Rent expense for all operating leases was approximately $387,000 and $386,000 for the years ended June 30, 2013 and 2012, respectively.
