PRESS RELEASE

Gazprom, Total and StatoilHydro create Shtokman Development Company for
phase one on the Shtokman gas field
Paris, February 21, 2008 - Today at the central office of Gazprom, Alexey Miller, Chairman of the company’s Management Committee, Christophe de Margerie, CEO of Total S.A., and Helge Lund, President and CEO of StatoilHydro signed a Shareholder Agreement relating to the creation of Shtokman Development AG.
Gazprom holds a 51% stake in Shtokman Development AG while Total holds 25% and StatoilHydro 24% shares. The company is registered in Switzerland.
Shtokman Development AG will be organizing the project engineering, development, construction, financing and exploitation of first phase facilities related to the development of the Shtokman field.
The partners also indicated that front end engineering design (FEED) on the project has commenced, and will be finished at the second half 2009 allowing a final investment decision to be made. Among other things, Russian and international subcontractors for FEED studies have already been identified and a site has been chosen for the technical and transportation complex near Teriberka in Murmansk Region.
«This strategic partnership of our companies brings together long experience, vast resources and advanced technologies which are fundamental to the success of this unique project, which will guarantee reliable and long-term gas supplies for European consumers. The establishment of the Shtokman Development Company marks the starting point in the realization of the development of the Shtokman field», said Alexey Miller.
«The creation of this joint company by Gazprom, Total and StatoilHydro is a major milestone allowing us to combine our forces and experiences in large developments in harsh and remote environments to meet the challenges of the Shtokman project», said Christophe de Margerie.
«Shtokman can become a locomotive for new developments in the arctic region, with safe operations under cold and harsh condition. We look forward to the next stages in cooperating with Gazprom and Total on this large and challenging project by contributing with our competence and experience from the Norwegian Continental Shelf», said Helge Lund.

     Information:
The Shtokman field is situated in the central region of the Russian sector of the Barents Sea.
The deposit holds around 3.8 trillion cubic meters of gas and 37 million tons of gas condensate in place.
The Shtokman gas condensate field will become a resource base for deliveries of Russian gas - both pipeline and LNG - to markets of the Atlantic basin.
Sevmornetegas, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Gazprom, holds gas and gas condensate exploration and exploitation licenses.
Phase one of the development of the deposit provides for a yield of 23.7 billion cubic meters of natural gas per annum, the start of pipeline deliveries to commence in 2013 and LNG in 2014.
On 13 July 2007, Gazprom and Total signed a Framework Agreement on the main terms of cooperation in the development of the first phase of the Shtokman gas condensate field. Gazprom and StatoilHydro signed a similar Agreement on 25 October 2007.
The Agreement stipulates that a special purpose company will be the owner of the infrastructure of the first phase of the field for 25 years after the field begins production.
The relations between the special purpose company and OOO Sevmorneftegaz will be based on a contract that says that the company will bear all the financial, geological and technical risks in the production of gas and condensate and the production of LNG.
OAO Gazprom retains 100% of the shares of OOO Sevmorneftegaz and all the rights to the marketing of the production.

(NEW RELEASE)
Nigerian Deep Offshore: Launch of Usan Project
Paris, February 28, 2008 -Total announces that its wholly-owned subsidiary Elf Petroleum Nigeria Limited (EPNL) has obtained the required approvals from the Nigerian government and co-venturers to begin developing the offshore Usan field, which it operates. Co-venturers in the Usan development include Elf Petroleum Nigeria Limited (20%, operator), Chevron Petroleum Nigeria Ltd (30%), Esso Exploration and Production Nigeria (Offshore East) Ltd. (30%) and Nexen Petroleum Nigeria Ltd. (20%).
Discovered in 2002 in OPL 222, the Usan oil field is located around 100 kilometres offshore, in water depths ranging from 750 to 850 metres.
Proved and probable reserves of the Usan field are expected to be more than 500 million barrels of oil.
Usan is expected to come on stream early in 2012 and to ramp up quickly to plateau production of 180,000 barrels of oil per day. The associated gas will be reinjected in the reservoir.
The field development plan comprises 23 producer wells and 19 water and gas injector wells tied back to a floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) unit with a storage capacity of 2 million barrels of oil.
The project introduces a number of technological innovations and builds on Total’s leadership as an operator of large-scale deepwater developments in West Africa.
In line with Total’s commitments, the Usan project further advances Nigeria’s local content policy: according to the present plan a significant step is expected on the work to be performed in Nigeria. More than 11 million man hours are planned for the different aspects of the project: engineering, yards, offshore works and management. Nearly half of the 7,500 tons of the modules installed on the FPSO will be integrated onsite.

Total also announces that the government has approved EPNL’s application for conversion of Oil Prospecting License (OPL) 222 (Total operator, 20%) into two Oil Mining Licences (OMLs 138 and 139), each covering half the original area of OPL 222. The Usan field is located in OML 138.

Total has been operating in Nigeria for 50 years. Developing the country’s deep-offshore resources is one of the Group’s main growth drivers in Africa, particularly the deep offshore Akpo field in OML 130, which it operates, alongside partners NNPC, Sapetro, Petrobras and CNOOC. Akpo is scheduled to come on stream during winter 2008/2009 at 225,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day in plateau. Also located in OML 130, Egina development studies are ongoing.
Operated by Total in a joint venture with NNPC, OMLs 99, 100 and 102 account for Total’s offshore production in Nigeria, mainly from the Amenam, Ofon and Odudu area fields.
In addition,Total also has a significant equity production in Nigeria from its participations in non-operated ventures, particularly Shell operated SPDC JV (10%, onshore and shallow offshore) and SNEPCO (12.5%, deep offshore, Bonga field), as well as in Nigeria LNG (15%).
Total will be able to consolidate its position as a leading oil major in Africa through its expanded presence in Nigeria, combined in particular with growing production volumes in Angola and in Congo (Republic of Congo).

Total Announces Launch of Anguille Field Redevelopment in Gabon
Paris, February 28, 2008 - Total subsidiary Total Gabon today announces that it has begun redeveloping the Anguille Field in Gabon.
Anguille is located 20 kilometres offshore Port-Gentil, in a water depth of 30 metres in the Grand Anguille Marine concession. The concession is wholly owned by Total Gabon and governed by the “Convention d’Etablissement”, which was renewed in July 2007 for a further 25 years. Discovered in 1962, Anguille came on stream in 1966 and produced 7,500 barrels per day in 2007 prior to redevelopment.
The project will improve the oil recovery factor to 23% from 13% by increasing the number of drainage points, in particular in the northern part of the field, and by enhancing well productivity using hydraulic fracturing and massive waterflood.
Phase 1 of redevelopment is under way, leveraging existing facilities. Around a dozen wells will be drilled in 2007 and 2008, and the associated surface facilities will be debottlenecked.
Running from 2009 to 2011, Phase 2 entails installing new offshore infrastructure and decommissioning obsolete process units, building an onshore plant (power generation, fluid treatment, gas compression) and drilling an additional 30 or so wells.
The project will eliminate gas flaring on the field by 2011, as well as coastal discharges of production water.
Production is expected to increase from 2008, peaking at over 30,000 barrels per day in 2013-2014. The development cost is an estimated 2 billion dollars for additional proved and probable reserves of around 150 million barrels. As well, operating costs will be reduced by refocusing operations onshore.

Total Gabon
Total Gabon is Gabon’s top-ranked oil operator, with total operated crude oil production amounting to over one-third of the country’s output.
Present in Gabon since 1931, Total Gabon helped to discover more than 80% of the country’s oil and gas reserves and has developed more than 50 onshore and offshore fields over the past 50 years. The first of these fields came on stream in 1957. In 2000, Total Gabon launched a wide-ranging program to appraise and redevelop existing fields to enhance recovery and slow down the natural decline in output. The Anguille redevelopment is a key project under this program.

Total Farms into New Deep Offshore License in Nigeria

Paris, March 12, 2008 - Total today announces that it has signed an agreement with Nigeria’s Conoil Producing Limited to farm into the deep offshore OPL 257 license with a 40% interest. Conoil remains the operator with a 50% interest, and a local company holds the remaining 10%.
The Nigerian government has approved this transaction.
Covering an area of 372 square kilometres, OPL 257 is located some 150 kilometres offshore, in water depths ranging from 1,600 to 1,800 metres. It lies south of OML 130, where the Akpo and Egina fields, operated by Total, are situated, and north of the Joint Development Zone administered by Nigeria and Saõ Tomé and Principe.
Total will be the technical advisor. Conoil started its activity in 1984 and currently operates six licenses in the Niger Delta. The partners of OPL 257 will jointly conduct further exploration, appraisal and development works of any commercial discovery.
No wells have yet been drilled in the license. The work commitment for the first exploration period, which ends in 2011, comprises the acquisition and processing of 400 square kilometres of 3D seismic and the drilling of two exploration wells. In the second exploration period, which will be for a duration of five years, the work commitments cover the acquisition of a further 100 square kilometres of 3D seismic and the drilling of five exploration and/or appraisal wells.
Total E&P Nigeria:
Total has been operating in Nigeria for 50 years. Developing the country’s deep offshore resources is one of the Group’s main growth drivers in Africa, particularly the Akpo field in OML 130, which Total operates. Akpo should come on stream during winter 2008-2009 and reach a production plateau of 225,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day. Development studies are ongoing for Egina, also located in OML 130.

Total’s offshore operated production in Nigeria comes currently from the OML 99, 100 and 102 blocks as part of a joint venture with NNPC. The main fields are Amenam, Ofon and Odudu area fields.
In addition, Total also has a significant equity production in Nigeria from its participations in non-operated ventures, particularly SPDC JV (10% Total, onshore and shallow offshore) and SNEPCO JV (12.5%, deep offshore, Bonga field), as well as in Nigeria LNG (15%).
Total is committed to the use of local content in its activities, following the example of the programme that will be implemented for the recently launched Usan project. The Group continues to develop the expertise of Nigerian companies in deep-offshore project-related work. This is particularly the case in the Niger Delta region, from which more than half of Total’s Nigerian employees come and where the majority of the Group’s operations in the country are located.
The development of Total’s presence in Nigeria, combined with growing production volumes in Angola and the Republic of Congo should enable Total to strengthen its leading position amongst oil majors in Africa.

PRESS RELEASE
Total Gabon: Financial Results for Fiscal Year 2007
Libreville – March 14, 2008 — The Board of Directors of Total Gabon, chaired by Jean Privey, met on March 14, 2008 and approved the final accounts for the year ending December 31, 2007.
Net income in 2007 increased 2.5% to $334.4 million, compared to $326.4 million in 2006.
The oil production of the fields operated by Total Gabon averaged 81.5 thousand barrels per day in 2007, declining 4% from the previous year’s figure of 84.8 thousand barrels per day. Total Gabon’s share of the operated and non-operated oil produced (including the oil tax reverting to the Republic as per the profit sharing contracts) amounted to 64.2 thousand barrels per day in 2007, compared to 67.0 thousand barrels per day in 2006, representing roughly 26% of the country’s total crude oil production.
Revenues amounted to $1,456 million, representing an increase of 14%, or $177 million, compared to fiscal year 2006. The decline in the volumes sold was more than offset by higher prices for the crude oil marketed by Total Gabon, which averaged $66.65 per barrel in 2007 compared to $59.08 per barrel in 2006, and by higher revenues from transportation of crude for third parties.
Operational costs increased 36% to $1,331 million in 2007, compared to $978 million in 2006, due to the ongoing program of large maintenance projects, further increases in oil service costs across the industry, the adverse impact of the euro-dollar exchange rate and higher provisions, depreciation and amortization.
Capital expenditure related to oil operations in 2007 was $322 million, compared to $130 million in 2006. It originated mainly from:
In the operated Mandji activity: offshore drilling of seven new wells on the Anguille field as part of Phase 1 field redevelopment, redevelopment activities on Lopez Nord and Port Gentil Océan with the drilling of two new wells, and ongoing redevelopment studies on the Baudroie, Hylia and Torpille fields.

In the operated Rabi activity: on Atora, the continuation of the additional development project and ongoing work to increase waterflood capacity on Coucal.

In the non-operated activity: continuation of the Rabi Kounga Phase III field work program, featuring a new drilling program comprising five new wells and workovers on two existing wells, and definition of a strategy for further field development.

Taking into account Total Gabon’s funds generated from operations, major additional capital expenditure, with notably the redevelopment of Anguille1 launched in 2007, and which will be sustained in subsequent years, and the need to borrow up to $600 million to finance the company’s multi-year investment program, the Board has decided to recommend the distribution of a net dividend of $31 per share, or a total amount of $139.5 million to all shareholders, at the Annual Shareholders’ Meeting, scheduled on May 23, 2008.
The dividend is payable in euros (or the equivalent in CFA francs), based on the exchange rate for the U.S. dollar on the date of the Annual Shareholders’ Meeting, and will qualify in France for a tax credit of $0.27 per share, corresponding to the Gabonese withholding tax.

Total cedes 20% of Taoudenni permit in Mauritania to Sonatrach
Paris, March 18, 2008 - Total announces today that it has ceded a 20% stake in the Taoudenni permit in Mauritania to Sonatrach. The permit was previously 100% owned by Total. Total is the operator, with an 80% stake.
This transaction has been approved by the Mauritanian Ministry of Oil and Mines.
Total signed in January 2005 two production sharing contracts with the State of Mauritania for onshore Blocks Ta7 and Ta8 in the Taoudenni Basin, representing a combined total of 58,000 square kilometres. Following an aerial survey to obtain magnetic and gravimetric data performed in 2005 and 2006, a 3,260-kilometre 2D seismic campaign was undertaken in 2006 and 2007.
Total is showing, by ceding this stake, that it is committed to establishing a strategic partnership with the national oil company Sonatrach both inside and outside of Algeria. Present in Algeria since 1946, Total is associated to Sonatrach on the Hamra and Tin Fouye Tabankort gas fields, the Timimoun exploration block, and on the Rhourde El Krouf and Ourhoud oil fields through its interest in Cepsa. Total is also associated with Sonatrach for a major petrochemical project in Arzew, in Algeria.

USA: Total enters into new promising exploration acreage in Alaska
Paris, March 19, 2008 - Total announces that its wholly owned subsidiary Total E&P USA, Inc. has acquired a 30% working interest from Chevron in several onshore Alaskan exploration blocks known as White Hills. Chevron is the operator with a 70% interest.
Located onshore in Alaska, 40 kilometres Southwest of Prudhoe Bay, the blocks cover an area of approximately 2,000 square kilometres.
The exploration campaign is under way with three wells planned for this drilling season (Winter 2007-2008), and additional exploration wells planned for next winter’s season as well.
Total will work closely with the operator, to protect the Alaskan environment. A wide range of measures are implemented to preserve the soil, air, water and wildlife.
This acquisition illustrates the Group’s desire to pursue its growth strategy in exploration areas with high potential.
