Total and EDF Inaugurate a New Solar Panel Plant in Toulouse, France
Paris, December 1, 2006 — Total and French electric utility EDF will tomorrow inaugurate a photovoltaic solar panel production plant owned by their joint subsidiary Tenesol. Located in Saint-Martin-du-Touch in the Greater Toulouse region, the plant has a current capacity of 17 MW per year and is expected to eventually create around 100 direct and indirect jobs.
For more than 20 years, Tenesol has specialized in designing, manufacturing, installing and operating photovoltaic solar systems. Based in Lyon, France, the company already operates a photovoltaic panel production plant in South Africa. In 2005, consolidated revenue stood at close to 145 million. Its operations cover domestic and industrial applications at both grid-connected and off-grid sites. Tenesol has strong positions in Europe and France’s overseas departments and territories, as well as in Africa, the Middle East and Latin America.
The Toulouse plant expands Tenesol’s photovoltaic panel production capacity, while reaffirming Total and EDF’s commitment to the fast-growing renewable energies segment. This production strategy is supported by significant R&D to further drive the growth of their photovoltaic businesses.

Total finalizes acquisition of 16.7% of the second train of
Qatargas II in Qatar and takes a 8.35% share in the UK South Hook terminal
Paris, December 8, 2006 — Total announces the signature today of the final agreement formalising the acquisition by Total of a 16.7% equity participating interest in the second train of Qatargas II. This agreement follows the signature of sale and purchase agreements under which Total will purchase up to 5.2 million metric tonnes of LNG per year from Qatargas II for a period of 25 years. Taking advantage of Total’s diversified and strong presence in the gas markets of the Atlantic basin, the LNG is primarily intended for deliveries in France, the United Kingdom and the Gulf of Mexico.
Qatargas II is an integrated project covering the development of two new LNG trains, each with an annual capacity of 7.8 million tonnes with the feed gas coming from Qatar’s giant North Field. The sponsors of the Qatargas II project are now Qatar Petroleum, ExxonMobil and Total. Construction of the LNG trains at the Ras Laffan Industrial City in Qatar began in December 2004. The start-up of the second train of the Qatargas II project is presently targeted for winter 2008/2009.
Moreover Total will also hold an 8.35% interest in the South Hook LNG terminal located in Milford Haven, in South Wales (United Kingdom). The two train facility is designed to process 15.6 million tonnes per year of LNG and is expected to begin operation with a first train in early 2008. Others partners are QP (67.5%) and ExxonMobil (24.15%).
A top-tier global LNG operator with equity sales of 7.7 million tonnes in 2005, Total is targeting average LNG production growth of 12% a year through 2010. The Qatargas II project will support the Group’s LNG expansion and diversification.
About Total in Qatar
Total is one of the founding partners of Qatargas, a company which owns and operates three LNG trains under production. Total has already a large range of assets and projects in Qatar where it operates the Al Khalij oil field and has activities in the petrochemical sector with Qapco, QVC and the Qatofin project. Total also has a 24.5 % interest in the Dolphin project, which involves the development of the natural gas reserves in Qatars’ giant offshore North Field which is planned to enter into production in 2007.
Total’s production in Qatar (including its share in the production of equity affiliates) averaged 57,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day in 2005.

Total and LNG
A trailblazer in the LNG industry since 1964, Total has interests in six of the world’s largest liquefaction plants, which represent around 40% of global LNG production capacity. More than one-quarter of the gas produced by Total in 2005 was dedicated to the LNG industry.
Total is strengthening its position across the LNG chain, as illustrated by the recent signatures to acquire a stake in Brass LNG in Nigeria and in the Ichthys LNG project in Australia. After entry into the South Hook terminal, Total now also holds interests in five regasification terminal projects to ensure additional markets for products from the Middle East, the Gulf of Guinea and, in the future, Northern Europe.

Total Signs Exploration and Production Sharing Contract
for the Offshore Diaba License in Gabon
Paris, December, 13, 2006 — Through 58%-owned subsidiary Total Gabon, Total today signed an exploration and production sharing contract for the offshore Diaba license in Gabon. Covering an area of 9,075 square kilometres, the license is located around 50 kilometres offshore southern Gabon in water depths ranging from 100 to 2,500 metres.
The license partners are Total Gabon with an 85% interest and the Gabonese Republic with a direct interest of 15%. The exploration program will be divided into three phases. The first phase, lasting three-and-a-half-years, consists of a commitment to shoot 2,000 kilometres of 2D seismic. The second phase, also lasting three-and-a-half years, comprises a commitment to shoot 700 square kilometres of 3D seismic, while the third phase, lasting three years, includes an obligation well.
This latest acquisition demonstrates Total’s confidence in continued operations in Gabon, in particular through the acquisition of new deep offshore acreage to explore new plays in previously untapped horizons.
Through subsidiary Total Gabon, the Group is the country’s top-ranked oil operator, with total operated crude oil production of around 37% of Gabon’s total output. Total’s equity production averaged 98,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day in 2005.
Total in Gabon
Present in Gabon since 1931, Total has helped to discover more than 80% of the country’s oil and gas reserves and has developed more than 50 onshore and offshore fields over the last 50 years. In 2000, Total Gabon launched a wide-ranging program to appraise and redevelop existing fields to enhance recovery and slow down the natural decline in output. Total is also the main shareholder in the Sogara refinery in Port-Gentil and operates Gabon’s leading service station network.

Paris, December 15, 2006 — Sonangol, the Angolan state oil company, as concessionaire, and Total, as operator, are pleased to announce first production from Angola’s deepwater Dalia field in Block 17. Discovered in September 1997 and located some 135 kilometres off the coast in water depths ranging from 1,200 to 1,500 metres. Dalia is estimated to contain close to 1 billion barrels of recoverable oil. It is the largest deepwater development to be brought onstream this year and among the largest projects of its kind in the world.
The Dalia field is comprised of 71 wells, 31 for water injection, 3 for gas injection and 37 producers tied into 9 manifolds. The subsea installation consists of 40 kilometres of insulated production flowlines linked to eight hi-tech flexible risers specially manufactured for the project and taking the fluid up to a Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel, which has an oil treatment capacity of 240,000 barrels of oil per day and a storage capacity of 2 million barrels.
“We are extremely pleased with the development of Dalia which has been completed on time, illustrating the abilities of our teams to successfully tackle even the most challenging projects and environments, said Christophe de Margerie, President Exploration and Production of Total. “Moreover, Dalia has contributed to the strengthening of Angolan specialized oil industry, to the creation of employment and to the transfer of technology through the establishment of modern factories in Luanda, Lobito and Dande for the manufacturing of sophisticated industrial equipment used in the project.”
Sonangol is the Block 17 concessionaire. Total E&P Angola, operator, has a 40% interest in Block 17, alongside partners Esso Exploration Angola (Block 17) Limited (20%), BP Exploration (Angola) Ltd. (16.67%), Statoil Angola Block 17 AS (13.33%) and Norsk Hydro Dezassete a.s. (10%).

Block 17:
Deep-offshore Block 17 is Total’s major asset in Angola. It is composed of four major zones: Girassol and Dalia, both into production, Pazflor which is in the final bidding process before sanction, and CLOV, a fourth major production area, based on Cravo, Lirio, Orquidea and Violeta discoveries, currently being studied.
On the Girassol structure, production from the Girassol field and the Jasmim field, a satellite to Girassol that came on stream in November 2003, is currently at more than 250,000 barrels per day of oil. The development of the Rosa field, developed as a 15 kilometre tie back to the Girassol FPSO (Floating, Production, Storage and Offloading) facility, was launched in July 2004. The field is scheduled to come on stream in the second quarter of 2007 and is expected to maintain the FPSO’s production plateau at 250,000 barrels per day.
Dalia, one of the largest operated projects of Total, will contribute very significantly to the growth profile of the Group in 2007 and over the period 2006-2010.

Total To Reduce Gas Flaring* by 50% by 2012,
for An Overall Reduction of 70% Since 1998
Paris, December 15, 2006 — After introducing a “zero flaring” policy for new projects in 2000, Total announced that it will reduce gas flaring by 50% at its operated facilities worldwide by 2012.
Total joined the Global Gas Flaring Reduction Partnership (GGFR) in March 2004. Set up in August 2002 at the initiative of the World Bank, the public-private partnership facilitates and supports national efforts to use currently flared gas. Partners include governments of oil producing countries, state-owned companies and major international oil companies.
In 2001, Total made a commitment to carefully manage its greenhouse gas emissions. Associated gas flaring accounted for 23% of its greenhouse gas emissions in 2005. Despite significantly higher production, the amounts of gas flared in Total-operated facilities declined by 40% between 1998 and 2005.
The latest announcement reflects the Group’s dedication to assuming its environmental responsibilities. Total contributes to the combat against climate change, in particular by managing its greenhouse gas emissions. It also helps to develop innovative energy solutions that encompass energy efficiency, renewable energies and CO2 capture and sequestration.
*   Flaring is the burning of associated gas—produced whenever oil is produced—when it cannot be used for another purpose. Unlike oil, associated gas is difficult to store and transport to market. Options include:
Using it immediately, in local plants, for power generation or for industrial and domestic applications.

Exporting it to consumer countries, when large amounts of natural gas have been discovered in the region.

Reinjecting it in the field, which is not always technically feasible.

Disposing of it through flaring, because unflared gas in the atmosphere would be eight times more harmful in terms of the greenhouse effect.

New oil discovery on Block 32, in the Angolan ultra deep offshore
Paris, January 3, 2007 — Sociedade Nacional de Combustíveis de Angola (Sonangol E.P.) and Total E&P Angola, a wholly owned subsidiary of Total, announce a new oil discovery with the sixth exploration well named Salsa-1, drilled on Block 32 in the ultra deep waters of the Angolan offshore.
Drilled in a water depth of 1,806 metres, the Salsa-1 well tested at a rate of 3,686 barrels per day of oil, from a Miocene reservoir. The discovery is located in the southeastern part of Block 32, approximately 15 kilometres southwest of the Mostarda-1 discovery.
Complementary technical studies are underway to evaluate the results obtained from the tests, and further exploration drilling is underway, and planned, across the block.
Sonangol holds the concession rights for Block 32. The Contractor Group is formed by Total, that holds a 30% interest as operator; other partners are Marathon Oil Company (30%), Sonangol E.P. (20%), Esso Exploration and Production Angola (Overseas) Limited (15%) and Petrogal (5%).
Total in Angola
Total is present in Angola since 1953 and held end 2006 interests in six production permits, three of which it operates (Blocks 17, 3 and FS/FST) and three it does not (Blocks 0, 14 and 2) and three exploration permits, one of which it operates (Block 32) and two it does not (Blocks 31 and 33).
Deep-offshore Block 17 is Total’s major asset in Angola. It is composed of four major zones (Girassol and Dalia, which are in production, Pazflor which is in the final bidding process before sanction, and CLOV, a fourth major production area, based on Cravo, Lirio, Orquidea and Violeta discoveries, currently being studied).
The production of Block 17, with Girassol and Dalia structures, is expected to reach nearly 500,000 barrels of oil per day by summer 2007.
Ultra-deep exploration work conducted in 2005 and 2006 confirmed the potential of Block 32. After the discoveries of Gindungo in 2003, Canela and Cola in 2004, the positive results from the Gengibre and Mostarda wells drilled in 2005 confirmed the existence of a probable major production structure in the east-central section of the block. Conceptual development studies were initiated in 2005 for development of these discoveries.
