1. Basis of Presentation

The accompanying condensed consolidated financial statements have been prepared without audit, pursuant to the rules and regulations of the Securities and Exchange Commission ("SEC") for Form

-Q and include the accounts of CalAtlantic Group, Inc., its wholly owned subsidiaries and a variable interest entity in which CalAtlantic Group, Inc. is deemed to be the primary beneficiary. Certain information normally included in the annual financial statements prepared in accordance with U.S. generally accepted accounting principles ("GAAP") has been omitted pursuant to applicable rules and regulations. In the opinion of management, the unaudited condensed consolidated financial statements included herein reflect all adjustments, which include only normal recurring adjustments, necessary to present fairly our financial position as of

June 30, 2017

and the results of operations and cash flows for the periods presented.

The unaudited condensed consolidated financial statements included herein should be read in conjunction with the audited consolidated financial statements and notes thereto included in our Annual Report on Form
