On April 23, 2014, Vertex Pharmaceuticals Incorporated (“Vertex”) provided the following supplemental information regarding 2013 “Tax fees” for services provided to Vertex by Ernst and Young LLP, Vertex’s independent registered public accounting firm:
Ernst & Young LLP’s tax fees of $1,737,771 for 2013 (which were disclosed in Vertex’s definitive proxy statement for its 2014 annual meeting of shareholders) consisted of:

tax compliance and preparation fees, including the preparation of original and amended tax returns and refund claims, and tax payment planning of $201,103; and
•
tax advice and planning fees of $1,536,668.
