On September 16, 2007, Howard Gittis, a director of Jones Apparel Group, Inc. since 1992, died. Mr. Gittis served as a member of the Compensation and the Nominating/Corporate Governance Committees of the Board of Directors. No replacement has been appointed yet to fill the vacancy left by Mr. Gittis.
