Item 5.02 Departure of Directors or Certain Officers; Election of Directors; Appointment of Certain Officers; Compensatory Arrangements of Certain Officers.

By letter dated March 23, 2007, Efthimios P. Sotos gave notice of his resignation from his position as Chief Financial Officer of Jones Apparel Group, Inc. (the "Company"). His employment with the Company ended on March 27, 2007.

On March 26, 2007, the Company appointed Wesley R. Card, age 59, as Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Card was named the Company's Chief Operating Officer in March 2002 and will continue to serve in that capacity. He also served as the Company's Chief Financial Officer from 1990 to March 2006.
