Item 8.01  Other Events.
On January 20, 2021, the Board of Directors of Great Southern Bancorp, Inc. (the “Company”), the holding company for Great Southern Bank (the “Bank”), was notified that Linton J. Thomason, Vice President and Chief Information Officer of the Bank, intends to retire at the end of 2021. Mr. Thomason is primarily responsible for information services and technology for the Bank.
Mr. Thomason announced his intention to retire well in advance to assure an orderly leadership transition over the next year.  A succession plan is in place.
With more than 40 years in the banking industry, Mr. Thomason joined the Bank in 1997. He has been an integral part of the Bank’s growth and success for the last 24 years. During that time period, the Bank has grown from approximately $700 million in assets with operations primarily in the southwest Missouri region, to approximately $5.5 billion in assets and offices in 11 states, as of December 31, 2020.
