Departure of a Named Executive Officer

Effective at the close of business on May 1, 2008, Senior Vice President, Life and Annuity, Frank D’Ambra III, left Horace Mann Educators Corporation to return to consulting, a practice he pursued prior to joining the Company. The organizational structure was reviewed, certain changes will be implemented, and the senior vice president position will not be replaced. Douglas W. Reynolds, Executive Vice President, Insurance Operations, will continue to oversee the operations of the Company’s Life and Annuity segments.
