Authoritative guidance requires public companies to report financial and descriptive information about their reportable operating segments. The Company identifies reportable segments based on how management internally evaluates financial information, business activities and management responsibility.

 

The Company operates in a single business segment, the marketing and licensing of brand names and trademarks for apparel, footwear and accessories. Cherokee’s marketing and licensing activities extend to brands that the Company owns and to brands owned by others. Cherokee’s operating activities relating to owned and represented brands are identical and are performed by a single group of marketing professionals. While Cherokee’s principal operations are in the United States, the Company also derives royalty revenues from the Company’s international licensees and franchisees. Long-lived tangible assets were located in the U.S., United Kingdom, Mexico and Asia with net values of approximately $774,  $36,  $202 and $30, respectively, as of July 30, 2016 and with net values of approximately $818,  $54,  $234 and $44, respectively, as of January 30, 2016.
