Item 5.02 Departure of Directors or Certain Officers; Election of Directors; Appointment of Certain Officers; Compensatory Arrangements of Certain Officers.

Lyondell Chemical Company (the "Company") previously reported on its Current Report on Form 8-K dated December 6, 2006 that Ms. Susan K. Carter had been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Company effective January 1, 2007. In accordance with Instruction 2 to Item 5.02 of Form 8-K, the December 6, 2006 Current Report on Form 8-K is being amended solely to report that, effective May 4, 2007, the Board of Directors of the Company approved the appointment of Ms. Carter to the Audit Committee.
