Components of Net Periodic Benefit Cost for Defined Benefit Plans and Other Postretirement Plans
The following tables provide the components of net periodic benefit cost for its major defined benefit plans and its other postretirement plans. As disclosed in Note 1, the Company elected to early adopt ASU 2017-17 during the quarter ended March 31, 2017. As a result, the Company recorded Interest cost, Expected return on plan assets, and Net amortization within Other (income) expense - net. The Company adopted this standard retrospectively and thus $0.8 million was reclassified from Selling, general and administrative expenses to Other (income) expense - net for the three months ended March 31, 2016 to conform to current period presentation.
