On April 2, 2007, FirstCity Financial Corporation (“FirstCity” or the “Company”) issued a press release announcing that the filing of its Annual Report on Form 10-K for the year ended December 31, 2006 will be delayed beyond the April 2, 2007 extended filing date prescribed by Rule 12b-25 promulgated under the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, as amended.  A copy of this press release is attached hereto as Exhibit 99.1.
