Investments

At December 31, 2011 the Company had no investments, however, the Company had cash invested in trading securities as of January 1, 2011. These securities were short-term in duration and were reported at fair value with gains and losses, which were insignificant in 2010, included in earnings. At January 1, 2011, the Company had $56.3 million of trading securities recorded at fair value (see Note 14 to the Consolidated Financial Statements for description of the fair value hierarchy).
