Organization, Consolidation and Presentation of Financial Statements Disclosure [Text Block]	OPERATIONS Clean Harbors, Inc., through its subsidiaries (collectively, the "Company"), is a leading provider of environmental, energy and industrial services throughout North America and is the largest operator of non-nuclear hazardous waste treatment facilities in North America. The Company has a network of more than 200 service locations, including 52 active hazardous waste management properties. These properties include six incineration facilities, nine commercial landfills, seven wastewater treatment facilities, 21 treatment, storage and disposal facilities ("TSDFs"), two solvent recycling facilities and eight locations specializing in polychlorinated biphenyls ("PCB") management and oil storage and recycling. Some of the Company's properties offer multiple capabilities. In addition, the Company has 167 service centers, satellite and support locations and corporate and regional offices. These properties are located in 37 U.S. states, seven Canadian provinces, Mexico and Puerto Rico. The Company also operates international locations in Bulgaria, China, Singapore, Sweden, Thailand and the United Kingdom. In preparing the accompanying audited consolidated financial statements, the Company has reviewed, as determined necessary by the Company's management, events that have occurred after December 31, 2011, until the issuance of the financial statements.
