Item 1.04
Mine Safety – Reporting of Shutdowns and Patterns of Violations.
 
On March 27, 2014, American Colloid Company, a subsidiary of AMCOL International Corporation, received an imminent danger order issued by the Mine Safety and Health Administration under section 107(a) of the Federal Mine Safety and Health Act of 1977 at the Sandy Ridge Mill in Letohatchee, Alabama.  The order alleges that the gates at the landings on an elevator are not equipped with interlocks to prevent the gates from being opened when the elevator car is not at the station.  No injuries occurred in connection with the cited condition.
