Wellman, Inc. Comments on First Quarter and Full Year 2003 Earnings
Monday April 7, 5:47 am ET

SHREWSBURY, N.J., April 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Wellman, Inc. (NYSE: WLM - News) today announced it expects earnings from continuing operations for the period ended March 31 to be in line with comparable earnings for the same period in 2002. The Company is experiencing strong demand and sales volumes in its domestic PET resins business. Annual earnings from continuing operations in 2003 are expected to be higher than annual earnings from continuing operations in 2002.

Wellman, Inc. manufactures and markets high-quality polyester products, including PermaClear® and EcoClear® brand PET (polyethylene terephthalate) packaging resins and Fortrel® brand polyester fibers. The world's largest PET plastic recycler, Wellman utilizes a significant amount of recycled raw materials in its manufacturing operations.
