In the words of a customer . . . “There is such a lack of great customer service today, so I felt compelled to post about my recent experience with Park National Bank. My mother in law passed away last week, and I had a question about her checking account (we helped her with her finances). I accessed the Park Direct chat line and chatted with a gal by the name of Amanda. She was very helpful and I quickly got what I needed, thanked her and closed it out. Imagine my surprise when a call came in to my cell phone from Amanda, with the nicest southern accent you can imagine! She told me she got to thinking about our chat and went back through it, and just wanted to add a couple of suggestions on how we could pay incoming bills rather than using that account. I couldn’t believe it! That’s not the end of the story. Today, I received a hand- addressed card from Amanda – in South Carolina – expressing her sympathy and letting me know to contact her if I had any other questions. I was a customer service and leadership trainer for 15 years. I am very heard to impress, but this gal blew me away … twice. It says a lot about Park National that they are able to not only find great people, but provide them with training and give them the autonomy to provide this kind of service. When I experience poor customer service, I usually feel bad for the person providing it, because they’re probably working for a company that doesn’t want to put the time or money into helping people hone those skills.
