Note 5 — Goodwill and Acquired Intangible Assets

During the first three months of fiscal year 2017, the Company’s goodwill decreased by $0.5 million, which related to the effects of foreign currency translation recorded within the Company’s government systems and commercial networks segments.

Other acquired intangible assets are amortized using the straight-line method over their estimated useful lives of two to ten years. Amortization expense related to other acquired intangible assets was $2.5 million and $4.8 million for the three months ended June 30, 2016 and 2015, respectively.

The expected amortization expense of amortizable acquired intangible assets may change due to the effects of foreign currency fluctuations as a result of international businesses acquired.
