Supplemental Cash Flow Information Occidental paid foreign and state income taxes of $553 million and $442 million during the nine months ended September 30, 2017, and 2016, respectively. Occidental received federal income tax refunds of $749 million and $302 million in the nine months ended September 30, 2017, and 2016, respectively. Interest paid totaled $266 million and $224 million in the nine months ended September 30, 2017, and 2016, respectively.
