Investment in Courseload, Inc.	Note 10. Investment in Courseload, Inc. On May 1, 2012, the Company purchased $2.0 million of the preferred stock of Courseload, Inc., a provider of online textbooks and other course material. Emmis can, at its discretion, purchase up to an additional $4.0 million of preferred stock in Courseload, Inc. through November 2012. This investment is accounted for under the cost method as the preferred stock in Courseload, Inc, does not have a readily determinable fair value.

The entire disclosure for investments accounted for under the cost-method. The carrying amount of such investments may be adjusted, for example, distributions in excess of cost (return of capital) or for other-than-temporary impairments.
