Stockholders' Equity

Cash Dividends. In each of the years ended December 31, 2021, 2020 and 2019, we paid dividends of $1.67 per share, $1.29 per share and $1.09 per share, respectively

Stock Dividends. On January 28, 2019, MDC’s board of directors approved an 8% stock dividend that was distributed on February 28, 2019 to shareholders of record on February 14, 2019. On January 25, 2021, the Company declared an 8% stock dividend that was distributed on March 17, 2021 to shareholders of record on March 3, 2021.

Common Stock Repurchase Program. At December 31, 2021, we were authorized to repurchase up to 4,000,000 shares of our common stock. We did not repurchase any shares of our common stock under this repurchase program during the years ended December 31, 2021, 2020 or 2019. We did not hold any treasury stock at December 31, 2021.
