Description of New Accounting Pronouncements Not yet Adopted [Text Block] Recently Issued Accounting Standards With the exception of those discussed below, there have been no recent changes in accounting pronouncements issued by the Financial Accounting Standards Board (“FASB”) or adopted by the Company during the three months ended April 30, 2013, that are of significance, or potential significance, to the Company.Accounting Standards Adopted in the Three Months Ended April 30, 2013 Effective February 1, 2013, Autodesk adopted FASB's Accounting Standards Update (“ASU”) 2013-02, Comprehensive Income (Topic 220) - Reporting of Amounts Reclassified Out of Accumulated Other Comprehensive Income.  This ASU requires additional disclosure about the changes in the components of accumulated other comprehensive income, including amounts reclassified and amounts due to current period other comprehensive income. The adoption of this standard did not impact the Company's financial condition, results of operations or cash flows.Effective February 1, 2013, Autodesk adopted FASB's ASU 2011-11 and ASU 2013-01 regarding ASC Topic 210 "Balance Sheet: Disclosure about Offsetting Assets and Liabilities." This ASU requires that entities disclose additional information about offsetting and related arrangements to enable users of the financial statements to understand the effect of those arrangements on the financial position. The adoption of this standard did not impact the Company's financial condition, results of operations or cash flows.
