EX-9.1 3 t12532exv9w1.txt EX-9.1 [LOGO] CALEDONIA MINING CORPORATION NEWS RELEASE UPDATE ON CALEDONIA'S DIAMOND, GOLD AND PLATINUM PROPERTIES FEBRUARY 5TH, 2002, IMMEDIATE Caledonia Mining Corporation ("Caledonia") of Toronto (TSE: CAL) and NASDAQ - OTCBB: CALVF) is pleased to report on the current situation of its diamond, gold and platinum interests. NUNAVUT: KIKERK LAKE Caledonia announced the diamond results for the Potentilla kimberlite at Kikerk Lake in Nunavut in October 2001. The Potentilla kimberlite was discovered on the Kikerk Lake property by Caledonia's joint venture partner Ashton Mining of Canada Inc. ("Ashton"). The Kikerk Lake property is located in the new "Coronation Gulf Diamond District". This area has seen a dramatic increase in interest and staking over the past few months since Ashton, De Beers and Kennecott/Tahera Resources have announced positive findings from the diamondiferous kimberlite pipes discovered on their properties in this diamond exploration area. The macro-diamond results from Potentilla together with the identified presence of well-defined diamond indicator mineral trains clearly indicate the need for further evaluation of Potentilla and the continued exploration on the Kikerk Lake property by Ashton. The results released by Ashton on its Artemisia pipe, located immediately to the east of the Kikerk property, also reported extremely positive macro-diamond counts. The combined results from these 2 diamondiferous pipes indicate a promising new potential for diamond exploration on the Slave Craton. At present Ashton and Caledonia each hold a 35 percent interest in the Kikerk Lake property. Ashton is entitled to earn a further 17.5 percent interest from Caledonia by incurring an additional $500,000 in exploration expenditures on the property by not later than May 31, 2003. NORTH WEST TERRITORIES: DUNVEGAN Caledonia holds a 100% interest in its Dunvegan property, located about 65 km south west of the operating Ekati mine and the Diavic Diamond Project, which is currently under construction and expected to be in production in 2003. Previous exploration work identified distinct kimberlite indicator mineral trains across the property. Caledonia is presently seeking a joint venture partner to continue exploration on Dunvegan. QUEBEC: JAMES BAY LOWLANDS In 1999, Caledonia granted Poplar Resources Inc. ("Poplar") the non-exclusive rights to its digital aeromagnetic data set, maps, and other proprietary information from its Nottaway diamond exploration project data, and an exclusive right to its proprietary "kimberlite strip" for Quebec. Caledonia's original interest in the Nottaway area was due to its location in the "kimberlite strip" of Quebec. In return for these rights, Poplar assigned to Caledonia, a 2% gross revenue royalty on any sale of diamonds recovered from any kimberlite pipe or intrusive body, and a 2% net smelter royalty on all base or precious metals mined or recovered within the area covered by the data set and the `kimberlite strip'. Poplar acquired the 130 claim Nottaway property, located in the James Bay Lowlands, and in January 2002, announced the discovery of kimberlite indicator minerals from till samples taken on the property. Poplar is most encouraged by these till sample results and believes that the property could host a new kimberlite field. ZAMBIA: MULONGA PLAIN JOINT VENTURE Caledonia holds a 40% interest in the Mulonga Plain Joint Venture properties in Western Zambia, adjacent to Angola. The balance of 60% has been earned by Caledonia's JV partners, BHP-Billiton World Exploration Inc. and Motapa Diamonds Limited (the "BHP Entity") by spending in excess of $US 3,000,000 since 1998. The BHP Entity is the operator of the Joint Venture. Drilling of potential kimberlite targets on the Mulonga Plain licence area is scheduled for the 2002 program as completion of the previous drilling program was limited and delayed due to various problems. The Mulonga Plain Joint Venture has selected multiple targets based on close-spaced - 2 - geochemical and detailed airborne and ground geophysical surveys carried out over the past 4 years. Geochemical surveys over the northern Kashiji Plain area have also returned very encouraging results and further follow up work is also planned for the Kashiji licence later this year. SOUTH AFRICA: GOEDGEVONDEN Caledonia holds an option to acquire 100% of the Goedgevonden kimberlite located approximately 140 km south west of Johannesburg. Previous drilling confirmed the kimberlite extends at least 440 metres below surface and remains open at depth. During December 2001, Caledonia completed a geophysical survey of the Goedgevonden pipe. A large diameter drill program is scheduled for mid February 2002. The objective of this initial drill program is to determine the economic potential of the top 100 metres of the pipe before committing to a more extensive drilling program. Caledonia has also acquired options over the surrounding areas of interest in order to optimize the potential for future exploration based on the Goedgevonden drilling results. SOUTH AFRICA: PRUISSEN AND VIER-EN-TWINTIG RIVIER OPTION During June 2001, Caledonia entered into an agreement to acquire a 50% interest in the Pruissen and Vier-en-Twintig properties. In the interim a Caledonia subsidiary has acquired from Anglo American Platinum, the rights to explore and exploit the mineralization on the farm Rooipoort 46KS adjacent to the Pruissen property. Further exploration of the exciting diamond and platinum potential of these three properties is scheduled to commence following completion of a desk study of the available data from the areas. KIMBERLITE STRIP MODEL Caledonia owns 100% of the Kimberlite Strip Model, which is a propriety methodology developed by Dr. M Light and Mr. G McDowell. The methodology consists of a suite of sophisticated geological and geophysical tools that predict the identification and delineation of zones where economically diamondiferous kimberlite pipes are likely to occur. These zones are referred to as "Strips". The exclusive right to market the "Kimberlite Strip Model" has been assigned to Poplar Resources in return for 50% of the revenue earned from the sale of any specific "strips" and a 0.5% gross revenue royalty. Caledonia and Poplar have used the Strip Model in Nunavut, Finland and Quebec in their search for economic diamond pipes. BARBROOK AND EERSTELING GOLD MINES Caledonia is pleased to announce that it has commenced limited mining at its 100% owned Barbrook Gold mine in the Mpumalanga Province of South Africa. The net revenue from the operation will be used to finance a reevaluation study to bring the Barbrook mine back into a sustainable commercial operation at rate of between 10,000 and 20,000 tonnes per month. The recent strengthening of the gold price in terms of the local South African currency and the recent successful confirmatory test work conducted on Barbrook ore by Mintek indicates that Barbrook is likely to be profitable utilizing the modified extraction process developed by Caledonia together with other operating changes. The re-evaluation study will be completed by May 2002 and will be used to obtain the financing to bring the mine into full-scale commercial production as soon as possible this year. There seems to be a growing sentiment that the gold price - after several years in the doldrums - could make a break-out from the present $260 to $280 per ounce range to values in excess of $300 per ounce. Once the Barbrook mine has attained its commercial operating rate, consideration will then be given to re-commencing mining operations at Caledonia's 96% owned Eersteling Gold Mine in the Northern Province of South Africa. EX-9.2 4 t12532exv9w2.txt EX-9.2 [LOGO] CALEDONIA MINING CORPORATION NEWS RELEASE KIKERK LAKE PROPERTY - WINTER PROGRAM UNDERWAY MARCH 26TH 2002, 9.00 AM Caledonia Mining Corporation ("Caledonia") of Toronto (TSE: CAL) and NASDAQ (OTCBB: CALVF) is pleased to report that it has been advised by its joint venture partner Ashton Mining of Canada Inc. ("Ashton") that the 2002 winter field program on the Kikerk Lake property in the north Slave craton region of Nunavut has commenced. The program includes the collection of a mini-bulk sample from the diamondiferous Potentilla kimberlite and the identification of new targets for drilling. POTENTILLA KIMBERLITE The Potentilla kimberlite was discovered in September 2001. The discovery hole, drilled vertically in the center of a magnetic anomaly, intersected kimberlite breccia beneath 9.9 metres of overburden to a depth of 142.3 metres and terminated in hypabyssal kimberlite at a depth of 184.7 metres. As announced October 24, 2001, a 207.8 kg sample returned 230 microdiamonds and 22 macrodiamonds. The largest stone measured 2.13 x 1.94 x 0.87 mm. The current program has two objectives: to collect a mini-bulk sample of up to ten tonnes from Potentilla by core drilling, and to define the shape and size of the body by delineation drilling and geophysical surveys. TARGET GENERATION At least one unexplained indicator mineral train is present on the Kikerk Lake property. A detailed helicopter-borne magnetic and electromagnetic survey is now underway over an area that includes the indicator mineral train and the Potentilla kimberlite. Ground geophysical surveys will follow over anomalies that the airborne investigation identifies. Any high priority targets will be drilled before the ice breakup. Caledonia and Ashton each hold an interest of 35 percent in the property, Northern Empire Minerals Ltd. holds the remaining 30 percent interest. EX-9.3 5 t12532exv9w3.txt EX-9.3 [LOGO] CALEDONIA MINING CORPORATION NEWS RELEASE UPDATE ON CALEDONIA'S RECENT ACTIVITIES IMMEDIATE RELEASE: APRIL 2, 2002 Caledonia Mining Corporation ("Caledonia") of Toronto (TSE: CAL) and NASDAQ (OTCBB: CALVF) is pleased to give an update on its recent corporate, operating and exploration activities. Caledonia issued a Press Release on March 26, 2002 focusing on its interests in the Kikerk Lake property in Nunavut, Canada - where the operator, Ashton Mining of Canada Inc., is conducting a diamond exploration program. The 2000 and 2001 programs have produced very attractive results. Caledonia has completed the return of its Barbrook Gold Mine in South Africa to limited production and the first test gold-pour was made on March 2nd, 2002. Barbrook has now developed three underground mining areas along the strike in order to provide mining and grade flexibility for its limited-scale operations. The feasibility study of returning Barbrook to commercial production is well advanced and should be completed during May. Management is anticipating that with the increase in the price of gold and the weak South African Rand, it will be able to operate the Barbrook Mine on a profitable basis. As previously announced, the South African Rand has weakened against the U.S. Dollar in the past four months. As the gold production from Barbrook is sold in U.S. Dollars and all of the operating costs are paid for in Rand, the positive potential economics of Caledonia's Barbrook Mine and Eersteling Mine (which is still on care and maintenance) have been vastly improved. In February, Caledonia announced the start of drilling of the kimberlite pipe on its Goedgevonden Diamond Prospect, located near Stilfontein in South Africa. While the exploration continues, it is still too early in the program to give definitive results. However, some small gem quality diamonds have been recovered from the first drill hole sample of 1,105 kg processed. Further information will be provided as the program develops. Caledonia, through its agents, IBK Capital of Toronto, is currently completing a C$3 million Private Placement - each C$0.145 unit consists of one Caledonia ordinary share and one half-warrant which is exercisable for 2 years, with a warrant being exercisable for one Caledonia ordinary share at C$0.195. The proceeds of the Placement will be used to hasten the return of Barbrook to commercial production, to fund the possible bulk sampling of the Goedgevonden Diamond Prospect and for general corporate purposes. Management believes that the above, when combined with the general increase in the price of gold during the past weeks and, what is believed to be a recognition by the market that Caledonia's shares have been undervalued, is the reason that its shares have recently attracted considerable interest by investors. EX-9.4 6 t12532exv9w4.txt EX-9.4 [LOGO] CALEDONIA MINING CORPORATION NEWS RELEASE MINI-BULK SAMPLE COMPLETED AND NEW KIMBERLITE DISCOVERED ON KIKERK LAKE PROPERTY, NUNAVUT MAY 21ST 2002, 7.00 PM. EST Caledonia Mining Corporation ("Caledonia") of Toronto (TSX: CAL and NASDAQ - OTCBB: CALVF) is pleased to report that it has been advised by its joint venture partner and operator of the programs, Ashton Mining of Canada Inc. ("Ashton"), of the collection of a mini-bulk sample from the Potentilla kimberlite and the discovery of the Stellaria kimberlite on the Kikerk Lake property in Nunavut. POTENTILLA MINI-BULK SAMPLE Discovered in September 2001, the Potentilla kimberlite consists of two phases: an upper layer of kimberlite breccia underlain by hypabyssal kimberlite. The body is overlain by approximately 10 m of glacial overburden. Microdiamond results from samples of drill core were reported on October 24, 2001. During May 2002, a mini-bulk sample weighing approximately 5.5 tonnes was recovered from seven core holes drilled from two setups. One setup was located near the site of the discovery hole announced on September 7, 2001. A vertical hole drilled at this location exited kimberlite at a depth of 205 m. A vertical hole and five angle holes were drilled from the second setup located 20 m southeast of the discovery hole. These drill holes exited kimberlite at vertical depths ranging from 55 m to 118 m. An additional angle hole was drilled approximately 100 m north of the discovery hole without intersecting kimberlite. The drilling data indicate that Potentilla is oriented north-south and has maximum surface dimensions of 110 m x 50 m. The Potentilla mini-bulk sample will be processed for macrodiamonds through Ashton's dense media separation plant in North Vancouver. Results are expected in the third quarter. STELLARIA KIMBERLITE The Stellaria kimberlite was discovered during the recently completed winter 2002 field program. Situated approximately 700 m east of the Potentilla kimberlite, the body was found by drilling a vertical core hole on a geophysical anomaly having approximate surface dimensions of 160 m x 50 m. The anomaly is oriented along a geophysically defined linear feature having an approximate strike length of 2 km. . A portion of this feature is situated up ice of a kimberlite indicator mineral dispersion hosting a significant G10 garnet population. The drill intersected approximately 20 m of glacial overburden underlain by 35 m of dolomitic limestone before [LOGO] entering hypabyssal kimberlite. The drill intersected 39 m of kimberlite before entering dolomitic limestone at a depth of 94 m. The hole was terminated in the limestone at a depth of 129 m. Material collected from Stellaria will be processed for microdiamonds by caustic dissolution at Ashton's laboratory in North Vancouver. During the winter 2002 program, two additional geophysical targets were drill tested on the Kikerk Lake property without intersecting kimberlite. A detailed airborne geophysical survey was completed on the northwestern portion of the Kikerk Lake property. The data are currently being interpreted and priority anomalies that are identified will be the subject of follow-up during the summer field season. Pursuant to an August 2000 option agreement with Caledonia, Ashton has now acquired a 52.5 percent interest in the Kikerk Lake property. Caledonia and Northern Empire Minerals Ltd. ("Northern Empire") hold a 17.5 percent and 30 percent interest respectively. The agreement gives Ashton the right to increase its interest to 59.5 percent by carrying Caledonia up to the completion of a feasibility study. Northern Empire is participating in the current program. FOR FURTHER INFORMATION PLEASE CONTACT CALEDONIA MINING CORPORATION: S.E. EX-9.5 7 t12532exv9w5.txt EX-9.5 [LOGO] CALEDONIA MINING CORPORATION NEWS RELEASE SUCCESSFUL MINI-BULK SAMPLE OF GOEDGEVONDEN KIMBERLITE PIPE, AND ADDITIONAL EXPLORATION RIGHTS ACQUIRED OVER THE SYFERFONTEIN KIMBERLITE PIPE AND ADJACENT AREAS OF INTEREST JUNE 12TH 2002, 09.00 AM. EST Caledonia Mining Corporation ("Caledonia") of Toronto (TSX: CAL and NASDAQ - OTCBB: CALVF) is pleased to report that it has completed a mini-bulk sampling program on its Goedgevonden kimberlite pipe in the Klerksdorp area of South Africa and that it has also acquired the exploration rights over the nearby Syferfontein kimberlite pipe and other adjacent areas of interest. GOEDGEVONDEN MINI-BULK SAMPLING PROGRAM A mini-bulk sample was collected from seven RC holes drilled on the Goedgevonden kimberlite pipe. Three holes were drilled to 150 m, and one hole to 120m, in the centre of the kimberlite and the remaining three holes were drilled to delineate the pipe in more detail. All holes entered kimberlite at approximately 6 metres and the four deep holes above were stopped while still in kimberlite. A total of 56 tonnes was collected and processed by a Van Eck and Lurie dense media separation ("DMS") plant. The Goedgevonden pipe was confirmed to be diamondiferous and sufficient gem quality diamonds, including a number of pink stones, were recovered to warrant a subsequent 8,000 to 10,000 tonne bulk sampling program which will commence in the third quarter 2002. Based on results of this second program a more extensive bulk sample of up to 40,000 tonnes would be required before any production decision could be made. SYFERFONTEIN KIMBERLITE Caledonia has acquired the exploration rights over the Syferfontein kimberlite pipe on the farm Syferfontein 376IP, approximately 1km NE of the Goedgevonden pipe. Exploration reports of work conducted by others over the Syferfontein kimberlite in 1997 confirm that it is diamondiferous and recommend a mini-bulk sampling program to evaluate the grade in the upper levels of the pipe. Caledonia plans to initiate this program in the third quarter. Future exploration programs would be based on the results of this sample. Caledonia also plans to drill two other pipe-like targets which they have identified within their exploration area. FOR FURTHER INFORMATION PLEASE CONTACT CALEDONIA MINING CORPORATION: S.E. EX-9.6 8 t12532exv9w6.txt EX-9.6 [LOGO] CALEDONIA MINING CORPORATION NEWS RELEASE BARBROOK MINE UPDATE JULY 9TH 2002, 10.00 AM Caledonia Mining Corporation ("Caledonia") of Toronto (TSE: CAL and NASDAQ - OTCBB: CALVF) is pleased to report that it has completed its geological re-evaluation of the Taylor's section of its 100% owned Barbrook Mine located in the Mpumalanga Province of South Africa. The Barbrook mine was placed on care and maintenance in mid 1997 after the fall in the gold price and has recently been returned to limited production. Barbrook is now focusing on the immediate re-commencement of commercial scale mining and process operations now that the ore available for mining startup has been re-defined. Mining will initially be concentrated in the Taylor's west area with the intention to reduce internal waste generation which previously resulted in severe ore grade dilution to the mill. The metallurgical circuit at start-up will include Caledonia's new Pre-Ox process and the resin gold recovery process developed by MINTEK. MINTEK are currently determining the requirement for the conversion of Barbrook's existing Carbon-in-leach ("CIL") into a resin-in-leach ("RIL") section and the requirement for a resin elution, regeneration and electrowinning sections. Confirmatory testwork on Taylor's ore by MINTEK in 2001 showed that the combination of Pre-Ox and RIL processes resulted in approximately a 20% higher gold recovery than the CIL process previously used at Barbrook. It is planned to initially commence mining and processing at 3,000 tonnes per month and thereafter to increase this progressively to 12,000 tonnes per month or higher. During the 1997 mining and plant throughput at Barbrook exceeded 17,000 tonnes per month. However this rate was obtained at the expense of gold grade dilution, and therefore the mining rates will be restricted to control dilution and ensure higher feed gold grades to the plant. Preliminary production schedules and mine plans are being prepared at present and recommissioning work has commenced on both the underground workings and the metallurgical plant in preparation for the resumption of production later this year. Several mining sequences are being considered and once these have been optimized the detailed production plans will be announced, most likely in early September. EX-9.7 9 t12532exv9w7.txt EX-9.7 [LOGO] CALEDONIA MINING CORPORATION NEWS RELEASE STELLARIA KIMBERLITE CONFIRMED DIAMONDIFEROUS JULY 17TH 2002, 9.00 AM Caledonia Mining Corporation ("Caledonia") of Toronto (TSE: CAL and NASDAQ - OTCBB: CALVF) is pleased to report microdiamond results for the Stellaria kimberlite on the Kikerk Lake property in the Coronation Gulf region of Nunavut, and to announce the summer exploration program for the property which will be carried out by Ashton Mining of Canada Inc. ("Ashton"). STELLARIA KIMBERLITE The Stellaria kimberlite is situated approximately 700 m east of the Potentilla kimberlite. As reported on May 21, 2002, the vertical discovery hole was drilled into a geophysical anomaly having approximate surface dimensions of 160 m x 50 m. This anomaly is oriented along a geophysically defined linear feature with an approximate strike length of 2 km. After passing through 20 m of glacial overburden and 35 m of dolomitic limestone, the drill intersected approximately 39 m of hypabyssal kimberlite. Drill core was processed by caustic dissolution at Ashton's North Vancouver laboratory and returned the following numbers of diamonds:
NUMBERS OF DIAMONDS ---------------------------------------------------- MICRO MACRO SAMPLE WEIGHT 0.1-0.5 MM > or = 0.5 MM (IN ONE (KG) (IN TWO DIMENSIONS) DIMENSION) - -------------- ------------------- ---------- 105.4 66 13 (NOTE 1)
NOTE 1: One of the macrodiamonds is greater than 0.5 mm in two dimensions and measures 0.8 x 0.6 x 0.4 mm. SUMMER 2002 EXPLORATION PROGRAM Ashton is encouraged by the confirmation of a second diamondiferous kimberlite on the Kikerk Lake property. The summer exploration program, scheduled to commence in late July, will include further prospecting and additional detailed heavy mineral sampling. The objective of this portion of the program is to investigate a number of unexplained indicator mineral anomalies near the Potentilla and Stellaria kimberlites. A prominent indicator mineral dispersion anomaly has already been identified 700 metres southwest of Potentilla. Heavy mineral samples will also be collected to investigate subtle indicator mineral anomalies as well as priority geophysical anomalies identified by an airborne survey conducted earlier in the year. - 2 - The 2002 summer exploration program will also include drilling of the Stellaria kimberlite itself as well as drilling along the defined linear feature associated with Stellaria. The goal of this work is to better define the size and orientation of the kimberlite body, and to determine whether it may be a structurally controlled dyke. As reported on May 21, 2002, a 5.5 tonne mini-bulk sample was collected from Potentilla as part of the winter 2002 field program and is currently being processed through Ashton's dense media separation plant in North Vancouver. Completion of analysis is expected before the end of August. In terms of the Caledonia-Ashton Joint Venture Agreement Ashton will fund Caledonia's interest in the property until a bankable feasibility has been completed. EX-9.9 11 t12532exv9w9.txt EX-9.9 [LOGO] CALEDONIA MINING CORPORATION NEWS RELEASE POTENTILLA KIMBERLITE RETURNS COMMERCIAL-SIZED DIAMONDS SEPTEMBER 16TH, 2002, IMMEDIATE Caledonia Mining Corporation ("Caledonia") of Toronto (TSX: CAL and NASDAQ-OTCBB: CALVF) is pleased to report diamond results for a 5.83 tonne mini-bulk sample collected from the Potentilla kimberlite in May 2002 by Ashton Mining of Canada Inc ("Ashton"). Discovered in September 2001, Potentilla is located on the Kikerk Lake property in the Coronation Gulf region of Nunavut. MINI-BULK SAMPLE RESULTS The Potentilla kimberlite contains two phases: an upper kimberlite breccia underlain by hypabyssal kimberlite. The 5.83 tonne mini-bulk sample consisted of 4.48 tonnes of kimberlite breccia and 1.35 tonnes of hypabyssal kimberlite. The drilling data indicate that Potentilla has maximum surface dimensions of 110 m x 50 m. After processing through the dense media separation (DMS) plant at Ashton's North Vancouver laboratory the sample returned a total of 1.02 carats of diamonds larger than 1.0 mm using a square aperture screen. These results gave the sample an estimated diamond content of 17.50 carats per hundred tonnes ("cpht"). When a 0.8 mm square aperture screen was used, a total of 1.28 carats of diamonds was recovered giving the sample an estimated diamond content of 22.00 cpht. SUMMARY OF DIAMOND RESULTS
DIAMONDS DIAMONDS ESTIMATED DIAMOND CONTENT KIMBERLITE SAMPLE WEIGHT RECOVERED (>0.8 RECOVERED (>1.0 (CPHT) TYPE (TONNES) MM) (CARATS) MM) (CARATS) (DIAMONDS > 1.0 MM) - --------------- ------------- --------------- --------------- ------------------------- Breccia 4.48 1.07 0.86 19.20 Hypabyssal 1.35 0.21 0.16 11.85 ---- ---- ---- ----- TOTAL 5.83 1.28 1.02 17.50 ==== ==== ==== =====
The largest diamond recovered, a 0.34 carat colourless composite crystal with small inclusions, came from the breccia. The second largest diamond, a 0.09 carat stone, was recovered from the hypabyssal phase. No further work is planned on Potentilla at this time. The recovery of a 0.34 carat diamond in Potentilla confirms the presence of kimberlites with larger stones in the Coronation Gulf region of Nunavut and provides encouragement for continued aggressive exploration on the Kikerk Lake property and elsewhere in the region. - 2 - KIKERK LAKE PROPERTY SUMMER EXPLORATION PROGRAM In addition to the collection of the Potentilla mini-bulk sample, the 2002 summer drilling program focused on the Stellaria kimberlite. Situated approximately 700 m east of the Potentilla kimberlite, Stellaria was discovered in May 2002 by drilling a vertical hole into a geophysical anomaly having approximate surface dimensions of 160 m x 50 m. The anomaly is oriented along a geophysically defined linear feature having an approximate strike length of two km. The 2002 program was designed to better understand the Stellaria kimberlite and the associated linear feature. Initial microdiamond results from Stellaria were reported on July 17, 2002. In August 2002, a hole was drilled from 40 m northwest of the Stellaria discovery hole at an inclination of 60 degrees from horizontal. After passing through 16 m of glacial overburden and 52 m of dolomitic limestone, the drill intersected 21 m of hypabyssal kimberlite. The drill data suggest that Stellaria may be a 13 metre wide dyke dipping at an angle of 72 degrees to the northwest. Based on indicator mineral and geophysical data, Stellaria has a strike length of less than 400 m. Approximately 100 kg of core was recovered from the Stellaria drill hole and it will be processed for microdiamonds by caustic dissolution at Ashton's North Vancouver laboratory. Three additional holes were drilled into geophysical anomalies along the linear feature without intersecting kimberlite. The summer program also included the collection of more than 250 indicator mineral samples in the vicinity of the Stellaria and Potentilla kimberlites to investigate unexplained geophysical and indicator mineral anomalies. The indicator mineral data will assist in identifying priority targets for drilling in early 2003. Caledonia currently holds a 17.5 percent interest in the Kikerk Lake property. Ashton and Northern Empire Minerals Ltd. ("Northern Empire") hold interests of 52.5 percent and 30 percent respectively. Ashton is the operator of the programs on the Kikerk Lake property . EX-9.10 12 t12532exv9w10.txt EX-9.10 [LOGO] CALEDONIA MINING CORPORATION NEWS RELEASE STELLARIA KIMBERLITE RETURNS MORE DIAMONDS FRIDAY NOVEMBER 8TH 2002, 9.00 AM Caledonia Mining Corporation ("Caledonia") of Toronto (TSX: CAL and NASDAQ-OTCBB: CALVF). is pleased to report additional diamond results from the Stellaria kimberlite located on the Kikerk Lake property in the Coronation Gulf region of Nunavut. Initial diamond results were reported on July 17, 2002. The Stellaria kimberlite is situated 700 m east of the diamondiferous Potentilla kimberlite. As reported on May 21, 2002, Stellaria was discovered by drilling a single vertical hole into a geophysical anomaly having approximate surface dimensions of 160 m x 50 m. A second hole was drilled in August from a location 40 m northwest of the discovery drill site at an inclination of 60 degrees from horizontal toward the vertical discovery hole. The drill passed through 16 m of glacial overburden and 52 m of dolomitic limestone before intersecting 21 m of hypabyssal kimberlite, giving Stellaria an estimated true width of 13 m. A 110.7 kg sample of kimberlite drill core was processed by caustic dissolution at Ashton's North Vancouver laboratory. Table 1 presents a summary of the diamond results in square mesh sieve format. Table 2 presents the data in Table 1 together with the initial results disclosed on July 17. These data are not sufficient to infer an accurate diamond grade for this kimberlite.
