Item 8.01 Other Events.

On April 18, 2007, Cleveland-Cliffs Inc. (the "Company") completed its previously announced investment in the Sonoma Coal Project (the "Project") in Queensland, Australia. Pursuant to an agreement with QCoal Pty Ltd, the Company will invest approximately $109 million to construct a washplant and acquire mining assets and rights. The Company will operate and own 100 percent of the washplant and 8.3 percent of the mining leases, resulting in a 45 percent economic interest in the Project.
