Vancouver, BC – October 5, 2009 -- Norsat International Inc. (“Norsat") (TSX: NII and OTC BB: NSATF) a leading provider of intelligent satellite solutions, announced today that it has received several new sales contracts, spanning the globe. These contracts, totaling $3.9 million, include penetration into industry verticals like maritime communications, broadcasting, and homeland security. While over half of these awards came from the U.S., a fifth came from Asia - Pacific countries like India, China, Singapore and Hong Kong, with the remaining tranche of orders coming from Europe and Scandinavia.

Dr. Amiee Chan, President and CEO of Norsat, stated, “I am pleased to announce this series of orders that have been received in the past several weeks.  While the U.S. Military continues to be a cornerstone customer for Norsat,  we have been able to attract other militaries around the globe to take notice of our products. We are also pleased that other markets for our products are gaining traction, also on a global basis, with orders from customers in India and China for broadcasting purposes and Italy for maritime communications.
