Court Approves Acquisition of Cognos by IBM

 

OTTAWA, ON January 16, 2008 – Cognos® (NASDAQ: COGN) (TSX: CSN) today announced that the Ontario Superior Court of Justice has issued a final order approving the previously-announced arrangement whereby an indirect subsidiary of International Business Machines Corporation will acquire all of the outstanding common shares of Cognos for US$58.00 in cash for each Cognos common share.

 

Cognos has received shareholder and Court approval in respect of the arrangement and, assuming all other conditions to closing are satisfied or waived, expects the transaction to be completed during the first calendar quarter of 2008.
