STATEMENT UNDER OATH OF PRINCIPAL EXECUTIVE OFFICER REGARDING
FACTS AND CIRCUMSTANCES RELATING TO EXCHANGE ACT FILINGS

        I, Peter J. Rose, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Expeditors International of Washington, Inc. ("Expeditors"), state and attest that:
