Item 8.01 Other Events.

On August 30, 2006, Genzyme Corporation announced its plans through a wholly owned subsidiary to initiate a tender offer to acquire AnorMED Inc. (AMEX:AOM; TSX:AOM) of Vancouver, British Columbia. A copy of the press release is included as Exhibit 99.1 hereto.
