Clarification of Second Quarter Dividend Record Date

On July 24, 2012, NorthWestern Corporation d/b/a NorthWestern Energy (NYSE: NWE) (the “Company”) issued a press release indicating that its Board of Directors had declared a second quarter cash dividend of $0.37 per share of common stock, payable on September 30, 2012 to shareholders of record as of September 15, 2012. 

Because September 15, 2012 falls on a Saturday, the effective record date for the dividend will be the close of business on Friday, September 14, 2012.
