Item 8.01. Other Events

Texas Electric Rate Case
On Nov. 15, 2012, Southwestern Public Service Company (SPS), a New Mexico corporation, and a wholly owned subsidiary of Xcel Energy Inc., filed an electric rate case in Texas with the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) for an overall increase in annual revenue of approximately $90.2 million inclusive of franchise fees.  The rate filing is based on a twelve month test year ended June 30, 2012 adjusted for known and measurable changes, a requested return on equity of 10.65 percent, a jurisdictional electric rate base of $1.15 billion and an equity ratio of 52 percent.  A PUCT decision and the implementation of final rates are anticipated in the second quarter of 2013.
